I propose that the mid season draft is more like the rule 5 instead of 1 round. The draft will go as many rounds as needed. Obviously teams need to have the roster spots available to draft and teams can skip their picks if they don’t have roster spots or see a player they want to draft. With more players entering the draft I think we should be allowed to draft more players if available

I think more teams in " sell mode " will take advantage of that. I know I would for the contract purposes. I would vote no

Addressing Padres concern, I see where there would be a concern that teams would simply dump players causing an imbalance. But, remember that the players are minors and you can only carry 20. Plus there is only a finite number of eligible players. An extra round this season would have been useful.
I don’t think I would want an unlimited number of rounds because having players not get drafted still leave free agent opportunities as the season progresses.
However, I would support adding 1 round making it a 2 round draft.

I think this would take away from what this was meant to be and take away from our real draft: I know we get excited to scout and find players to add but I think we should stick to the 1 round and prepare for the real draft later in the year.
I vote no.

I vote no, this draft was only added to give us something to do at the all-star break

I would be ok with adding a round to this draft, but it also currently requires the player being called up. My spin to this proposal: A one round current format draft in which player must be eligible with a first half call-up.
The second round being less strict on that allowing teams to add a younger prospect (my first thought was only younger/lower level, but policing/ruling that would be near impossible). All teams with a roster spot could draft any prospect that was eligible during the Minor league player draft in January. I like the idea of adding a younger spec in a midseason draft, especially around the All Star break.
